CROWNS & BRIDGES
When a tooth has too much decay to be
filled or needs a root canal it will
then be necessary to have a crown placed
over the tooth. When there is not tooth
structure left it may be necessary to
place a post inside the crown to gain
retention.
CROWNS
A crown is custom made to look like the
rest of your teeth. Usually made from
porcelain, sometimes gold when diagnosed
due to location of the crown and your
bite. It is cemented over the prep work
the dentist performs at an earlier
appointment.
BRIDGES
A bridge is used where you have a
missing tooth/teeth. It is custom made
to look like the other teeth in your
mouth. It will be fixed and cemented in
and will help aid in chewing and
appearance. The teeth are prepped next
to where the missing tooth is located in
your mouth. Then at a later date the
bridge is seated with cement. A false
tooth is held in place by being attached
to a tooth next door. It is prepped in a
similar way as a crown.
CARE FOR CROWNS & BRIDGES
Just like your natural teeth you need to
care for crown and bridgework with
routing cleanings. At home you should
often. Special brushes are used to clean
under the false tooth on a bridge. And
it is recommended that you use a
waterpik. We warranty our crowns for 3
years.
