Dental Cleaning Tips for Kids When You Travel

Dental cleaning for your children is easier when you’re at home. You get the kids in their normal routines, they know when it’s time to brush their teeth, and then they snuggle into bed to go to sleep.

Summer vacation is another matter! There’s no school, there’s swimming at the pool, and it’s time for family vacations! In today’s blog from Northside Dental Clinic, we talk about dental cleaning for your kids when you travel.

Buy or Make Dental Care Kits

Check the oral care aisle of your local grocery store or big box store. Chances are good there’s at least one type of dental care kit that’s made for kids when they travel. Kid-friendly themes include Hello Kitty, comic book heroes, and pop stars.

Want a DIY option? Create your own dental cleaning kit with travel-sized items! Gather kid-friendly toothbrushes, small containers of toothpaste, and floss. Have your children help pack their own dental supplies so they know what to expect on vacation. Make it fun for them from start to finish!

Create Opportunities to Brush

You might let your kids have sugary treats while you travel to keep them happy. Make time to brush after they eat those sugary snacks as part of a dental cleaning routine. And don’t forget to brush once in the morning and just before bed at their regular times.

Pack Teeth-Friendly Snacks

Teeth-friendly snacks should be a part of your dental cleaning routine. Fresh fruits, raw vegetables, grains, seeds, nuts, and plant-based milks are all great choices. Chewing these foods helps to get rid of any acid left on teeth. They also have less sugar compared to candy, cookies, and sugary drinks.
